Often, people have questions about the experience of receiving a therapeutic massage.
Here are a few frequently asked questions and their answers:
Are the massage therapists licensed?
Yes. The State Department of Health tests and licenses all massage therapists in Connecticut. All therapists are required to pass a national certification exam to obtain licensure, in addition to their schooling accreditation. This is the main distinction between a massage therapist and a masseuse.
Do I remove all my clothes for a massage?
Only if you feel comfortable doing so. Clients are given privacy. Clothing is generally removed on the area to be worked, but the main idea is that you are relaxed. Leave on what you want to. Clients are covered by a sheet and/or blanket at all times, and some types of massage can be done through clothing.
Do I have to have an injury or other reason to get a massage?
Not at all. While many massage clients are here for help with injuries, or to soothe chronic back pain, many people receive regular self-care massages to maintain a low stress level and attain balance. Receiving massages while you're healthy helps to keep you that way.
